CCIH Advocacy Print

Since its beginning in the 1980s, CCIH has advocated for close collaboration between faith-based and secular groups involved in global health.  CCIH staff and board members strive constantly to:

  • bring together Christian individuals & organizations in global health, for mutual support and strengthening.
  • inform health planners, donors and implementers about the contributions of faith-based organizations (FBOs), particularly in the Global South:
    • their long work and local knowledge, serving entire communities, sometimes over five or six generations
    • their current contributions (for example, providing 30-40% of the health care in many African countries)
    • their intention to continue for the long term
  • encourage health planners to involve faith-based groups in global, national and local activities.
  •  inform FBOs about new opportunities in global health – research findings, emphases, planning sessions, projects, training, funding, etc.
  • encourage those wishing to do health work in countries of the Global South to know, listen to, and collaborate with those already working on the ground (communities, FBOs, local and national governments)
