Funding for international family planning to improve the health of women and children around the world

CCIH is currently working with its members, other Christians and people of faith, and the US Congress to gain support for increased US commitment and funding for international health services around the world.  CCIH works closely with partner organizations (the Faith & Global Health Caucus of the Global Health Council, Christian Health Associations in Africa, Family Health International, etc.) to ensure a well-coordinated and broad-based effort.

  • 9 December, 2011 | CCIH signs on to a community letter to House and Senate Appropriation Committee Members, both Republicans and Democrats, to urge the defense of long-standing U.S. commitments to meet critical health and development needs by allocating the highest possible funding for global health and development programs. This letter was coordinated by the Global Health Council. | View Sign-On Letter Here

  • 25 August, 2011 | The U.S. House of Representatives has voted for major cuts in aid, including global health. U.S. Senate offices have said it is extremely important that they hear from organizations all over the U.S. about our concerns about these cuts. CCIH and some member organizations signed onto this letter to Senator Patrick Leahy, the Chair of the Subcommittee on State/Foreign Operations of the Committee on Appropriations. This letter was coordinated by the Global Health Council. | View Sign-On Letter Here

  • 22 June, 2011 | CCIH signs on to a community letter to House and Senate appropriators asking for a minimum for the President's request for fiscal year 2012 global health funding. The Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee reduced the overall funding for international development (which includes global health) by $11 billion from the President's overall request $50 billion. This means that the House allocation for funding for global health may be below the President's request. The Senate has not yet issued its allocation.  | View Sign-On Letter Here
