Family Planning Methods: How do they work and why does it matter? 2011. Christian Connections for International Health with support from Georgetown University Institute for Reproductive Health. The decision about which family planning methods are acceptable varies widely among Christian organizations and individuals, and is influenced for some by whether the method acts to prevent conception or is thought to act as an abortifacient (capable of causing an abortion). One of the objectives of CCIH is to provide updated, evidence-based information, resources and viewpoints on a variety of pertinent international health topics to serve our member organizations and affiliates. Because family planning is a topic of considerable interest, the purpose of this paper is to primarily address how basic methods work and to clarify what is currently known with respect to specific methods.
- Contraceptive Security: What are Faith-Based Organizations Saying? October 2011. Contraceptive Security is a major concern of African faith-based organizations, donors and partner organizations supporting services by FBOs. Christian Connections for International Health interviewed representatives from eight countrywide Christian Health Associations (CHAs) at the biennial conference of the African Christian Health Associations Platform (ACHAP) in Accra, Ghana in February 2011 and these are the results.
- Opportunities for Faith-Based Organizations to Integrate Family Planning with HIV/AIDS Services. 2009. Christian Connections for International Health and Family Health International. This 2-page document makes the following points: benefits of family planning, unmet need for family planning remains high (especially among HIV-positive women), faith-based organizations are willing and able to provide family planning services, family planning includes a variety of methods, and family planning integration with HIV services. The document also provides examples of faith-based organizations providing family planning around the world.
