CCIH Conference Explores Integration of Faith and Health

September 18, 2017

by Kathy Erb

The CCIH Conference was the largest one yet, with 213 attendees from 20 nations. The plenary and breakout sessions were centered around the four core focus areas of the CCIH strategic plan: Integration of Faith and Healthcare; Health Systems Strengthening; Community-Based Primary Care; and the Health of Women and Children, with discussion-style panels addressing Fundraising and Donor Relations and Reaching Youth.
We were especially excited to have Dr. Kent Brantly share his extraordinary experience during the 2014 Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Kent talked in depth about his faith and experiences treating Ebola patients in Liberia, saying:
“To follow Jesus is to live a life of compassion. It doesn’t mean you won’t be afraid, but it’s a choice you make to choose compassion over fear.”
Watch the interview with Lance Plyler, MD, Director of World Medical Mission, Samaritan’s Purse as the two shared their experience working together at the ELWA facility in Liberia.
