Community-based nutrition education and rehabilitation "centers"
(CERNS or Motherkraft Centers) were extensively tried throughout Latin
America in the 1960s and 1970s. Warren and I visited them in Guatemala
and Mexico and ran them in Haiti at a time when they were widely dispersed
throughout the country. I will be happy to report on the methodology, their
success rates, the studies that were carried out, and the reason they were
abandoned.
The Goals of AACC are:
To raise the demands of the Gospel to churches and national Christian councils
with regard to their lives and missions especially in the areas of evangelism,
witness, service, and unity consultation and action.
To provide a common program for study and research.
To encourage closer relations and sharing among African churches through
visits, conferences, and information sharing.
To assist churches in identifying, sharing, and placing personnel and other
resources in support of the common task
To promote leadership training for both laity and clergy.
The Structure of AACC
The General Assembly, which meets every five years, sets policy and
assumes overall responsibility for the life and work of the AACC. The General
Committee meets every 18 months to assess the on-going work of the organization
and to deal with issues confronting the AACC. The AACC Headquarters is
situated in Nairobi, Kenya.
