Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires
of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do
this . . . Psalm 37: 4,5
When we set off on a long journey on a road that we do not know, we depend
on road signs. We look at them carefully and follow their instructions:Beware
of the bend. Reduce speed. Dangerous bridge.
But along comes another driver who is in a great hurry. He wants to
arrive on time for a very important meeting. He does not respond to the
road signs. He does not even look at them. He then misses a bend and is
involved in an accident. He disobeyed the road signs and did not trust
the people who put them up. Because he did not attend to the road signs,
he caused harm to himself.
Many Christians are like this foolish driver. We think we know what
we are doing and we don't need God or His words to guide us. Little do
we know that our work minus God equals zero. When we remove God from our
lives and work we are bound to total failure.
Dear friends, this is a very long road that we have to travel in our
Christian lives. There are a lot of obstacles. Are we trusting wholly on
our sovereign Lord, who has promised to direct our steps with clear instructions,
or are we ignoring the road signs? Depending on God and trusting His word
gives us success in our work and lives.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and your plans will succeed. Prov. 16:3.
