Welcome to The CCIH Forum! Through these pages, I invite you
to share in our vision and passion: better theory and practice of international
health through the integration of faith with work.
CCIH is composed of individuals and organizations committed to improving
the health across the globe - especially among the poor and the underserved..
We believe that the abundant life Jesus promised includes good health,
and should be accessible to all. CCIH members represent Christian PVOs
and NGOs, denominational mission boards; others participate as individuals.
Many of us are involved in program implementation; others are in academia
or both. While CCIH is based in the United States, many of its members
are from (or have worked) in Africa, Asia, Latin America or Europe.
The principal purpose of CCIH is the promotion of Christian perspectives
in the professional global health community. To me as an individual, the
highlights of my participation in CCIH are the two annual international
health gatherings -- the Global Health Council meeting in June and the
American Public Health Association Meeting in November. CCIH-sponsored
activities during those times include panel presentations, dinners, receptions
or one-on-one sharing. CCIH also holds an annual retreat just prior to
the GHC meeting.
There are also occasional symposia and meetings during the year with
students and with other agencies committed to international health. Our
website at www.ccih.org and The CCIH
Forum in your hands serve as links for exchanging news and ideas on
an ongoing basis.
Do consider sharing in our vision. Send any of our board members an
E-mail message or a note to our editor. We appreciate your feedback and
are happy to answer any of your questions. God bless you!
