The objective of Global Religious Health Assets Mapping (GRHAM) is to document and promote Faith-Based Organizational Health Networks by creating an Internet-based directory and database of their health facilities, organizations and programs. The beginnings of the GRHAM website exist at www.ccih.org/grham with partial, and very basic, information from several countries – Kenya, DR Congo, Sudan, and India.

 

The next step for GRHAM is to establish a framework for a comprehensive database, including data collection. Prior to that, however, we need to agree on the data collection instruments and the kind of output to be generated by GRHAM.

 

A.        Output Formats

 

What kind of information do you want from GRHAM? This is the question that should determine the shape of GRHAM (rather than how much information can we collect from FBO networks?) What information and output do you need from GRHAM in terms of FBO country health facilities, organizations, and programs?

 

One basic capability of GRHAM is to generate lists based on search criteria, e.g., hospitals assisted by the U.S. Presbyterian church (PCUSA). Table 1 illustrates this type of output for data from four countries. Clicking on the name of a specific hospital, e.g., Bulape Hospital, would take the user to additional information specific to that health facility.
