The Community Health Working Group of CCIH announces the availability of:

The Christian Community’s Contribution to the Evolution of Community-Based Primary Health Care

This document evolved from a plenary session at the 2008 CCIH Annual Conference in which Dr. Carl Taylor and Dr. John "Jack" Bryant, two veterans of the early Christian experience and the AlmaAta conference 1978 of WHO/UNICEF, reminisced and shared information about these early years. CCIH 23rd Annual Conference

CCIH held its Annual Conference at the Bishop Claggett Center in Buckeystown, Maryland from May 23-25, 2009. The theme of the conference was Technologies and Health: A Faith-Based Perspective. The conference was attended by 123 people, including 22 who traveled from outside the USA and 30 students/recent graduates. Over three days, participants tackled the topic of technology and its relationship to and with faith.

Special guest speakers at the conference included Admiral Tim Ziemer (US Malaria Coordinator), Dr. Jono Quick (CEO, Management Sciences for Health), Dr. Henry Mosley (Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health), Ms. Joy Mukaire (Executive Director, Christian Health Association of Sudan), Dr. Sarla Chand (VP International Programs, IMA World Health) and Dr. Douglas Huber (Reproductive Health Consultant).

CCIH thanks all who participated and all who held the conference up in prayer. God truly blessed us with shared knowledge, meaningful worship experiences, opportunities to explore collaboration and a beautiful environment. Watch this space for a conference report in the near future as well as links to conference presentations.
