Family Planning/Reproductive Health Print

The Family Planning/Reproductive Health Working Group provides information and educational materials to members and to the public that are consistent with mainstream public health standards and practices.  This includes a Knowledge Bank with a focus on key resources, including the CCIH survey of member organizations conducted in 2008.  We work to connect members with financial and other resources to create partnerships with secular organizations.  We have recently added an advocacy function for educating Congress and the public about Christian support for family planning as an integral component of comprehensive health care.  We welcome new members who wish to advance the role of family planning and reproductive health.

The Working Group has created a list of resources on Family Planning and Reproductive Health which can be found in the CCIH Knowledge Bank.

Past Working Group Activities

  • Congressional Briefing - On January 26, 2010 CCIH and the Faith & Global Health Caucus of the Global Health Council held a briefing entitled Family Planning from a Faith-Based Perspective in the Cannon House Office Building on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. The briefing was sponsored by Reps. Betty McCollum (D- MN) and Jesse Jackson, Jr (D-IL). The purpose of the briefing was to give CCIH’s research on Christian perspectives on international family planning, and to convey that faith-based organizations (FBOs) are favorable to the concept of family planning, particularly within the context of comprehensive health services, and where it can enable voluntary and informed decisions regarding the timing and spacing of pregnancies, and does not include induced abortion. For more information on the briefing, refer to the summary of the event. The briefing presentations by Dr. Henry Mosley, Dr. Victoria Jennings and Dr. Douglas Huber as well videos of the presentations and supporting documents may be downloaded from this site.
