Friends,
I am emailing this to a number of CCIH members and friends who are either
in Haiti, or work with Christian colleagues in Haiti.
A few of our members have contacted us urgently asking if we knew how to
communicate with Haiti. If any of you have been able to get a message out
of Haiti, or have been able to contact colleagues in Haiti, can you reply
urgently saying how you did it.
For those in the U.S., you may know already that the State Department has a
number where you can register names for information, and I understand that
CDC has some mechanism, too. I have heard today that someone in Port au
Prince has gotten a message through, and I'm trying to learn how. Also,
another CCIH member has gotten an email from the Albert Schweitzer Hospital,
but that is three hours away from Port au Prince.
CCIH has set up a Haiti listserv to facilitate information sharing and
networking among Christians who will be working in or interested in relief and
rehabilitation in Haiti. If you want to join the listserv, simply send an
email (no text needed in subject line or text box) addressed to
_haiti-join at ccih.org_ (mailto:haiti-join at ccih.org) . Then you will receive an email
requesting you to confirm that you want to join, and you reply as instructed.
Please pray for the people and the situation there. If you have ideas
about how a network like CCIH might help, please pass on your suggestions.
