CCIH MEMBER & AFFILIATE ORGANIZATIONS
EFCA Touch Global (Evangelical Free Church in America)
http://www.efca.org/reachglobal/reachglobal-ministries/efca-touchglobal
TouchGlobal is coordinating its response in connection with the EFCA
Southeast District and an EFCA church planter in Port-au-Prince. Other
partner ministries and relief organizations have been contacted in Haiti as
well. TouchGlobal has sent several teams to assess damage and needs. A
seven-person medical team has arrived in Cap Haitien to help at the hospital
and connect with Cure International. Work teams will be sent to Haiti to
assist with relief efforts as soon as the appropriate infrastructure is set
up, the needed Crisis Response staff has been deployed on the ground and
there are reasonable conditions in which volunteers may serve. If you are
willing to organize a team, send your contact information to
crisisresponse at efca.org or call the Crisis Response office at 985-893-0218
ext 7. Internships, short-term and long-term service teams will be needed.
More information will be coming soon.

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is also responding to this earthquake
through Living Waters for the World (LWW) and the Haiti Network. LWW is
beginning the process of assessing our 20 water systems in Haiti, many of
which were damaged, and developing a plan to return all of them to service.
At least two of the systems are functioning and providing water for their
communities. Long term, we would like to upgrade each system to run on
solar power.

Food for the Hungry

FH staff have selected two communities that were highly affected by the
earthquake where they will focus their relief responses -the Bellevue La
Montagne Zone where 90,000 individuals live and Siloe Region (between Delmas
22 and 75) where 20,000 individuals live. Staff members are conducting an
assessment in these targeted communities today to determine the greatest
area of need. FH has partnered with Samaritans Purse to bring in some GIK
provisions, which include
water, community water filters, jerry cans, hygiene kits, and water
purification kits. There may be a possible partnership with Global Aid
Network to bring in a shipment of water purification units. FH is also in
touch with its Global Relief Alliance (GRA) partners: CRWRC, World Relief,
World Concern, MAP, and MTI as well as others to see if a coordinated
response is appropriate.
FH is interested in hearing about other organizations doing relief WASH
activities in the same communities. Please contact Julie Hettinger at
jhettinger at fh.org or the FH emergency staff on the ground directly - Sara
Sywulka (ssywulka at fh.org) and Leena Samuel (lsamuel at fh.org).
Catholic Relief Services
http://www.crs.org
CRS staff has unloaded 120 containers (2100 metric tons) of vegetable oil
and grains from the U.S. government which will be taken to their warehouse
and then distributed to the growing number of camps. CRS has been asked by
the United Nations to lead the response at one of the first formally
organized camps, located at a golf course, where as many as 50,000 people
are sleeping every night. It has arranged to supply the camp with water,
food, and plastic sheeting for shelter, which continue to be trucked in from
CRS warehouses in the neighboring Dominican Republic, where volunteers are
working continuously to keep additional relief supplies coming.
Six medical teams have been formed to provide health care at shelters and
area hospitals and CRS teams have already distributed medical supplies and
drugs. In addition, Project C.U.R.E. has donated 3000 pounds of additional
medical supplies that are en route. Three operating rooms at St. Francois de
Sales Hospitalwhich withstood the quake are now running, and surgeries
are being performed on the most critically injured patients. Food, water and
medical supplies have also been provided to the hospital. An AIDSRelief
site, this is one of Haiti's oldest hospitals and one that CRS helped build.
Its mission is to provide free care and treatment for the poor.
CRS is extremely grateful for the outpouring of support we have received in
response to this calamity.
Blessings International
http://www.blessing.org
As of Friday 22 January, Blessings International has shipped or is in the
process of shipping long-dated pharmaceuticals, surgical and medical
supplies to 50 different organizations that either have full-time clinics or
hospitals in Haiti or have established relationships with an appropriate
organization that hosts medical teams. One of the first shipments contained
sufficient ibuprofen and acetaminophen to treat 32,000 patients at least
initially with 25 tablets each and sufficient antibiotics to treat 4000 +
patients. BI is receiving 5 or more requests for pharmaceuticals daily from
our purchased stock.
At this time, Blessings International supplies of antibiotics, other than
500 mg amoxicillin and cephalexin caps, have been holding up well as have
our analgesics, vitamins, and some sutures. BI has a good supply of
long-dated low cost generic Rocephin® 1 gm vials, ciprofloxacin 500 mg tabs,
and azithromycin 250 mg tabs. However, BI currently has no donated stock
from which it could freely contribute.
Needs: spinal needles, inhalational anesthetics, regional anesthetics,
ultrasound machines, laryngoscopes and narcotics for a hospital performing
amputations.
Donations: Cash donations are needed d to subsidize shipments to Haiti
