[CCIH-Haiti] Volunteer Information

This is a recap of opportunities for volunteers offering their services to
help in Haiti. 

 

1 - Attached is the latest list from the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons of volunteers. Please remember that you can have this list sent
directly to you by contacting Lisa F. Cohen, Manager, International
Education Programs American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons at
cohen at aaos.org. 

 

2- The American Medical Rehabilitation Providers Association may be helpful
in locating rehabilitation providers and professionals exclusively devoted
to treating and meeting the needs of individuals who have suffered
catastrophic injuries and disease. Contact: Maggie Ramirez of AMRPA at
347-573-3732.

 

3- The Christian Health Service Corps has knowledge of have immediate needs
for 3 week volunteer assignments in Haiti for Registered Nurses and
Physicians in all specialties. Anyone interested should contact Greg Seager
at gseager at gwmail.gwu.edu or by cell at 210-251-0553. 

 

4 – The Faith & Knowledge in Action, LLC is helping Caterpillar locate
volunteers to assist with the logistics and the movement of heavy equipment
in Haiti in aid of recovery efforts. If interested send your name, phone
number and email address to faithknowledgeaction at gmail.com. 

 

5 – Volunteer Portal at USAID/Haiti – The portal was introduced yesterday
and can be accessed at www.usaid.gov/haiti. Volunteers can register their
availability and NGOs can register to list their opportunities and needs.
This is the same page to access the NGO needs portal. 

 

6 – The US Department of Health and Human Services has a volunteer has set
up an email where medical professionals can send offers of volunteer medical
care services. If you are interested in volunteering, please send an email
to Haiti.volunteer at hhs.gov and include your name, clinical area, specialty
skills, degrees, and language capabilities (in particular, whether you speak
Haitian Creole or French and if so, your level of fluency). Your information
will be logged and will be shared with USAID; you may be contacted if an
opportunity becomes available that matches your skill set. More
