Dear Haiti Listserv Members
This message is a very important action request with the potential of more
fully integrating Christian organizations into the comprehensive efforts to
help Haiti recover from the earthquake, to use its limited medical and
health resources most efficiently, and to begin to rebuild a functioning
health system.
Even if you yourself are not directly involved in healthcare in Haiti,
please take the time to read this email and the information pasted below. We
need your help to get this information distributed to as many people as
possible in Haiti who are providing healthcare. Please pass this on to
anyone and everyone you can in the hope that it will continue to be passed
on and will reach those for whom it is intended: those working in health
facilities on the ground in Haiti.
For the past few weeks CCIH has been involved in the Haiti Health Facilities
Working Group, which is led by the US Department of Health and Human
Services (HHS) and the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in
collaboration with several other US agencies, and representatives of
corporations, NGOs and FBOs.
CCIH has committed to help the Haiti Health Facilities Working Group to
identify, map and list the capacity of as many health facilities as possible
in Haiti in order to facilitate cooperation and collaboration in the
provision of healthcare in Haiti. The initial effort has focused on getting
immediately relevant information as quickly as possible so that those
working currently on the ground in Haiti will know where medical services
and personnel are available and for those supporting these facilities to
know what is needed and where. Plans are already in motion for gathering
more detailed information to inform action in the intermediate and longer
terms.
CCIH networking has already helped the Working Group in designing a survey
designed to assess the real-time capacity of health facilities to provide
medical care. The survey and the method of submitting information is
explained below. Attached you will find a short and a long survey form as
well as detailed instructions regarding a variety of ways to submit data.
You can contribute to Haitis recovery by:
1. Helping to get the word out about this opportunity to improve
immediate healthcare in Haiti.
2. Strengthening our Christian network by sending the following to
<mailto:sfranzen at ccih.org> sfranzen at ccih.org:
a. Information about you/your organization, where you are providing
assistance in Haiti and who you partner with;
b. The names, location and pertinent information of any other
organizations or individuals you forward this message to, or would like us
to contact;
3. Sending us any ideas about how the FBO community might work better
together to assist in the total effort.
With thanks,
Sharon

Dear All,
The following email and its attachments are for release to your contacts
with the hope of further dissemination.
This email is an introduction to a master-list, comprehensive registry of
all health facilities in Haiti. This effort is led by the Department of
Health and Human Services in Washington, D.C. and the Pan-American Health
Organization (PAHO), in collaboration with USAID, the Department of Homeland
Security and the Department of Defense, corporations such as Shoreland,
Inc., and Google, and NGOs such as IMA WorldHealth, Crisis Commons, and
Global Health Action. The purpose of this Haiti Health Facilities Capacity
Inventory is to collect real-time information that can then inform health
professionals and practitioners at any time where they can send patients for
the necessary care, based on the availability of services and the location
of health facilities.
We are requesting that you submit information about your health facility in
Haiti as soon as possible. In addition, we ask that you provide updates on
your health facility as its capacity changes. All submitted information is
owned by the Ministry of Health of Haiti. We recognize that you may have
filled out similar surveys since the earthquake. If filling out yet another
survey is cumbersome, would you please direct us to the organization that
collected your capacity data and we will reach out to them to add your
information to our system (write alyson.rose-wood at hhs.gov). However, if this
data is outdated please consider filling out this survey.
- All data submissions will be available on the following Shoreland website
on a near real-time basis (most within 30 minutes of submission):
www.travax.com. This real-time information is available to access on the
Travax® site and will be downloadable in .csv form to be used in any
spreadsheet program, such as Excel (by February 20, 2010). In order to
maintain data integrity, to enter data on the Travax site directly you will
need to enter the username/password combination (haitig1/4aid1). In
addition, there is a no-password necessary link to this real-time data on
the OneReponse
<http://oneresponse.info/Disasters/Haiti/Health/Pages/default.aspx> website
under Health Facility Resource Tracking (for viewing and downloading the
data).
- You can submit information to the Haiti Health Facilities Capacity
Inventory through SMS, email, fax, telephone, MMS, and through the internet
directly using the password above. The attached document, How to submit and
access Haiti Health Facility Capacity Information details the submission
guidelines. In addition, this document explains how to view and download
this information to inform real time decisions as a health practitioner in
Haiti.
- To submit data to this inventory, you will need to use either the attached
Full Survey Form Template or the Reduced Survey Information Form (for
SMS, Voicemail, or if you do not have the capability to collect all the
information for the full survey form) as your guide; or you can direct our
team to where this data is housed and we will collect it on your behalf
(write alyson.rose-wood at hhs.gov). The Full Survey Form Template can either
be printed out and faxed in, or can serve as a guide to collect information
to then report in through email, MMS, telephone, or over the internet
directly.
- We are working to translate the forms into French and Creole and in
providing French and Creole-speaking telephone operators. We will notify all
when these services become available.
¨ If you have questions on the form or how to submit data, please
contact: haitiaid at shoreland.com
¨ If you have questions on the Haiti Health Facilities Working Group,
please contact: Alyson Rose-Wood at alyson.rose-wood at hhs.gov
The working group remains active exploring sustainable and improved methods
for the longer term.
Thank you for your participation in this effort,
Members of the Haiti Health Facilities Working Group
