Translating Text to Your Language

by CCIH

As a global organization with members across many languages, we value our community’s richness and diversity. To help everyone access information, here are easy ways to translate written, visual, and spoken content into your preferred language.

Translating Emails

Gmail Users: Open the message → click the three dots (More) in the upper-right → select Translate message → choose your language.

Other Email Systems: Copy the text and use one of these tools:

  1. Google Translate – translate.google.com
  2. ChatGPT – paste the text and type “Translate to French/Spanish/etc.”
  3. Browser Extensions – install Google Translate (Chrome) or Microsoft Translator (Edge) to instantly translate highlighted text.

(Tip: Outlook also offers built-in translation under Message → Translate.)

Translating Any Website

In Chrome, click the Translate icon or the three dots › Translate option. Choose your language from the list. Most modern browsers—including Edge, Safari, and Firefox—now have similar built-in translation tools.

Translating Printed or On-Screen Text

Use your phone camera with the Google Translate app to scan and translate text:

  • Download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
  • Select source and target languages.
  • Tap the Camera icon and point at the text.
  • The translation will appear directly on your screen, with options to copy or listen aloud.

(The app now supports over 90 languages and improved image translation.)

Live or Spoken Translation

For meetings or webinars, consider:

  • Zoom captions/AI translation or Wordly interpretation links.
  • Google Translate Conversation Mode or Microsoft Translator app for two-way voice translation.
