Faith Actors Destigmatizing Disability to Improve Community-based Rehabilitation

Faith communities and faith leaders are key in reducing stigma experienced by people with disabilities. This webinar, held March 15, 2022, Co-sponsored by the CCIH Community-Based Prevention and Care Working Group, CURE International and Kupenda for the Children addressed stigma related to disabilities, myths and misconceptions and how faith leaders are being engaged by FBOs to reduce harmful practices and stigma. The panel included Abdulgafoor Bachani, Associate Professor, International Health, Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and Director, Johns Hopkins International Injury Research Unit; Earnest Kioko, Senior Director of Spiritual Ministry, CURE International; and Leonard Mbonani, Kenya Executive Director and Co-Founder, Kupenda for the Children. The discussion was moderated by Cynthia Bauer, US Executive Director and Co-Founder, Kupenda for the Children.
